yayem
Yayem is a digital storytelling project, hosted by Atira Women's Resource Society. Yayem has very successfully delivered workshops to hundreds of youth both in inner cities and to rural locations across BC. Yayem workshops consist of fundamental training in photography, script writing - storytelling, audio recording, and editing of picture and sound. The finished project is a digital story which tends to be a 1 - 4 minute still frame movie. This process happens over a 3- 4 day span, so as you may imagine, this is an exciting and a hands on process!
These movies are uploaded onto the Yayem Website after completion. Youth can then view one another's movies! The Yayem website is also undated regularly so youth can check out what's new, who's new and who's involved with our project. Yayem's mandate is to create a network of creative youth across the globe, we help by teaching youth how to produce their digital stories, as well as how to promote them. We make submissions to film festivals regularly, and many of our youth's movies have and will be screening internationally. This is a constantly progressing project, with a promising future to break trail for young emerging artists.
