Stefan Sonvilla-Weiss is professor and head of the international MA-program ePedagogy Design – Visual Knowledge Building at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. I studied philosophy, graphics, art and design education and communication theory in Salzburg and Vienna (MA, PhD). The last 20 years I worked as art and design teacher, media artist, graphic designer, author, multimedia-developer and university teacher. During the 1990’s, I initiated several art and design related e-learning initiatives, managing the design, content creation and media-didactical concepts. My research interests are in the visual knowledge building in collaborative learning processes, and the media-didactical implications how technology, pedagogy and organizational structure influence and constrain each other in the process of educational change. I have served as external assessor and reviewer for a number of scientific and research bodies, including the European Commission in the Programmes IST, eLearning, Media, Erasmus, etc. and have received several honours and scholarships. I am married to Barbara Sonvilla and we have a daughter, Felicitas (*1988), and a son, Silvius (*1994). My latest publications include: Contact: stefan.sonvilla-weiss at taik.fi
