Occasionally, publishers bring me aboard as an Editorial Illustrator alongside Writer-contrbutions:
-towards my complementing approved freelance editorial content that is to be published in magazines, books, newsprint articles, web media, etc...
Working primarily in the photographic medium, and having a deep passion for combining photographic processes of different eras... I work out in the field, in-studio and in the colour and print lab, making the working experience as tactile as possible while on the job. Thanks to modern-day digital processes, I'm able to carefully shape and govern qualitative processes, and thus, tailor visual content towards end-project aims of the client as well. That is, provided that they can appreciate why ground-up egg-shells may be pasted to the finished print...or why I chose to put a finished photo-enlargement through a meat-grinder to shred it into a soup bowl!
In this context, my goals include :
-growing organic food in larger volumes (but only on a market-garden scale)
-paper making and hand-made book making, printing/publishing, and
-continuing with taking on new and interesting 'Special Projects' while gradually maturing as a visual artist and a contemporary 'Universalist'' .
A Key Inspiration... In 1993, I had the pleasure and honour of co-financing and publishing (on behalf of a 'then first time book author, John K. Grande') a 66 page soft-cover titled 'Art & Environment'.
The richness of John's literary work and our having produced it using Canada's first manufactured 100% Post-consumer Waste Paper, further inspired us to print the book with Petroleum-free Inks and with Ultra-low V.O.C. press operating solutions --a milestone in it's time, and to this day.
Enjoy The Content...and Thanks For Visiting!
