This collection of media on CitizenShift was created for International Women's Day. See women take to the podium and demand action, internationally. Combining materials from conferences of the Montreal Action Committee of Women of Diverse Origins and from the Forum on Women's Activism in Constitutional and Democractic Reform, women of action take a stand on inclusion in the democratic process, on combating violence, on eradicating poverty and a whole lot more.
Hailing from diverse ethnic backgrounds from Canada and around the world, in solidarity, women work to affect change. These are their stories.

Malalai Joya: I may be killed, but my voice will live on
Malalali Joya is an Afghani women's activist turned politician. Because of her criticism of the country's warlords, she now lives under constant death threats.
Joya says she is deeply connected with the people of Afghanistan, not only in her political area, but in all parts of the country. She says she is willing to risk her life to help her people; she may be killed, but her voice will always live on and it is the voice of her people.
