What issues compel young people to speak out? Take a look at how Reel Youth inspires a multitude of voices through media creation!
Growing up with access to an unprecedented amount of media, some young people are choosing to be media creators rather than consumers. They're plugged in and have strong opinions about the world around them.
Reel Youth (RY) is a not-for-profit, media empowerment program supporting the creation and distribution of films about young people's visions for a better world and the issues that concern them most.
RY facilitates mobile stop motion animation and filmmaking programs, creating the messages young people want to communicate with their community and world. These films are shared in local screenings, over the internet and, if selected, showcased in Reel Youth's touring film festival.
The Reel Youth Film Festival is a celebration of short films made by people 19 years and under. Insightful and entertaining, the RYFF collects films from across Canada, the US and abroad to put together an incredible evening of some of the best youth filmmaking today.
This non-profit organization encourages youth to become socially engaged and express themselves through music and art. Their site claims "Democracy can?t be sexy until we know what it means."
