Harm Reduction

The central idea of harm reduction is to reduce the potential dangers and consequences, both legal and health wise, associated with risky behaviours and lifestyles. Discover the controversy.

“Risky” behaviours will always exist. Casual sex, drunk driving, drug use and smoking are just some of them. Harm reduction initiatives range from widely accepted ideas, such as designated driver campaigns, to more controversial ones like providing condoms in public schools and instituting needle exchange programs. Should society ban everything related to risk or establish methods that reduce the negative consequences of risk? You be the judge.
