Following our visit to Dinosaur Provincial Park we hit the road once again heading to Head-Smashed-in-Buffalo Jump.

We were fortunate to have been accompanied by Conrad, who belonged to the Blackfoot tribe. Our experience with Conrad, was somewhat amaizing and extraordinary, as we learned about their culture, their beliefs, their traditions and most of all their link to the land which was reflected in their ancient ways of hunting, the Buffalo Jump. This particular site is know world wide as a remarkable testimony of prehistorical life. The Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump is a custom that was practiced contstantly by the native people of the North American plains for almost 6,000 years. Meeting with Conrad was a great way of bridging cultures speaking with native people (the people of the land) and experiencing and learning their perspectives regarding conservation of these more sacred sites.

Following Conrads presentation, we arrived at our Tipi camp located across the road from the Head-Smashed-in Buffalo Jump center where we stayed the night. Our stay their was quite short but enjoyable as we pitched and surrounded the camp fire under the cloak of stars that shinned above.

Finally, before departure, we met again with Conrad, where he amazed us once again with his spirituality and respectful ways. We were verry fortunate to be blessed by him. This alone was an awesome experience and is indeed something that will be remembered of the Black Foot people.
