CITIZENShift featured on MediaSnackers Podcast

This is great!

The MediaSnackers podcast focuses ‘on individuals, organisations or companies who are simply impressing us and crying out for more discussion.’ Last month, they interviewed Denise Hastings - our Toronto outreach worker  - about issues as diverse as youth, media, and CITIZENShift. Now the podcast is live.

Podcast 27 - Older Women Live: The OWL Radio Collective

For the past two years, a radio collective called OWL, ‘Older Women Live,’ has been producing a monthly radio show that airs on CKUT, 90.3 FM in Montreal, McGill’s community and campus station.

The OWLs are true trailblazers. The group’s founders wanted to empower older women by giving them a voice in the media and demystifying technology, so they created their own show that addresses a wide range of issues - everything from interviews with politicians to pieces about travel to global justice issues, with music by local women and community announcements too.

You can tune in to the OWLs anytime by visiting www.ckut.ca (go to the archives & programming section and select the Hersay program from the second Wednesday of the month) or, if you’re in the Montreal area, tune your dial to 90.3 on the second Wednesday of the month, from 6 to 7 p.m. The OWLs are always looking for more contributors too, if you are an older woman who is interested in participating, or if you would like advice on how to start a similar show in your area, write to the OWLs at owlradio (at) yahoogroups [dot] com.
