The Colouring Book

Ever wonder what goes on in the mind of a poet? “The Colouring Book”, a collection of poetry and prose exploration of race and identity, was self-published in February 2006. Now writers from the book are putting on the director’s hat and turning their prose and poetry into short videos. Find out about their creative journey as they embark on a one-week intensive digital storytelling workshop to shoot, direct, and edit stories that document their growth, struggles, and power as young adults of colour.

Memories of Completion

Hedy interviewed me and so here is a transcription of what I said on the day I completed my movie:

“I finished my piece! I was the first one to finish but only because my piece is very short and it had very little text. And I don’t really feel a sense of relief – I just feel a bit nervous that my work is finished – I guess it doesn’t have to be completely finished but finished. I’m hoping one day I’ll be able to accept the fact that working 7 days making art is considered “work” and there is a labour to it. I think this is the beginning of me entering the creativity within me and I look forward to that cause I would like to…”
