Femicide in Guatemala
A report released earlier this week, by Amnesty International condemned the impunity with which murders of females are allowed to act in Guatemala. The Amnesty report is full of disturbing statistics and paints a bleak picture of gendered violence in Guatemala. You can read a CBC story on the report here or read the report itself here.
The murders of these women and the lack of attempt to find their killers or prevent future murders, is a phenomenon sometimes refered to as femicide.
